Up, yet down

The cabin has been recently renovated
After the best summer ever and a lot of work, the cabin is finallyfit for fightagain and looking better than they have in a long time:
- the ceiling issealed with a vapor barrierso we don't lose heat
- The cabin has been tarred twice
- The windows have been painted in three coats for the first time since they were new in 1994
- The debris that fell from the roof in November 2021 has been removed and cleared of insulation material
- The living room, hallway, storage room, and kitchen have been thoroughly cleaned inside, including the shelves and floors
- water tank filled
- “The floor” has been sanded and oiled twice to make it easier to keep clean
I, on the other hand, need an overhaul
The only one who isn’t fit for action is me: on the first day of our planned two weeks in the mountains, I managed to tear my cruciate ligament, injure a ligament and the meniscus, and thus render myself completely useless. Caretaker Kopseng therefore doesn’t look like he’ll be able to look after the cabin going forward—just when everything was mostly in order… I therefore feel compelled to limit rentalsagainsince I’ll be having knee surgery this fall and will therefore be sidelined well into 2026.
I suppose I can take a short trip in late winter 2026 so that someone can stay here over Easter, but otherwise I’ll stop renting it out through June 2026 until I see how my knee is doing.
A short but very pleasant stay
We had planned two weeks in the mountains, but on the very first day I managed to tear my ACL. At least I managed to convince the Red Cross to wait four days before they brought me down on an ATV, so we got a few days. Ironically, we came down from the mountains just as a heat wave swept across the country, and it would have been perfect to stay up there…
